Action Figure Review: Siryn from Marvel Legends Series: X-Men by Hasbro

To get fully up to speed on this review, make sure to check out my review of Maggott!

OK, so long story short: I really wanted Bonebreaker from this series of figures but only kind of wanted Siryn and Havok. Everyone else was a pass, especially at the new $25 dollar price point. When I found four of the figures for $10 each at a bin store I jumped in and figured what the heck. I sold off a few of the figures I didn't want, kept the ones I did, and that's how I came to have Siryn in my collection. Thanks to the upcoming Banshee figure next year we'll finally have a great set of this father and daughter duo of super sonic screamers. Ready to take a look at Theresa Maeve Rourke Cassidy as  Siryn? Then join me after the break...

The Facts:

Height: 6 1/8ths inches tall

Articulation: Swivel/hinge ankles, double hinged knees, swivel thighs, ball jointed hips, ball jointed torso, swivel/hinge shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel/hinge elbows, swivel/hinge wrists, and a ball jointed head.

Accessories: 4 interchangeable hands and the left half of the Bonebreaker Build-a-Figure's tank body.

Non-Scalper Price: $25 dollars
The Positives:

* Siryn is a figure that largely just uses a base body with paint applications to create her costume but the paint applications are overall quite nice. Her outfit blends together green and yellow nicely, plus she's sporting a wing-like cape that aids her in flight.

* The wings are made from a soft material, but not fabric. They're kind of like a plastic material, but not vinyl.  It feels sturdier than that. They're permanently attached at the shoulders but fit over the wrists. They look pretty nice and move with Siryn's articulation quite well.

* Siryn's portrait looks fine, particularly her wind whipped hair. She looks quite tranquil, though, which definitely doesn't fit with her sonic scream mutant power. She really could have used a second head, but this one is great for just chilling out with the rest of the team or for neutral poses on the shelf.

* Siryn uses one of the standard Marvel Legends female bodies so you probably know what to expect: A sturdy figure with great articulation and a good range of movement in most joints. There's not much to complain about here. The attached wings actually do make her quite fun to pose. They're more dynamic than you'd expect.

* Siryn comes with two sets of hands: Some grasping hands and some fists. They swap out easily and help add a bit more nuance to her poses.

* Since I pretty much bought every figure in this series to build Bonebreaker, his BAF piece is a big sell. Siryn comes with the left half of his tank body. I'll be getting around to reviewing him this week, so stay tuned!

The Negatives:

* The cape is quite cool but it's kind of weird and cheap that it's only printed on one site. The other side just looks off, doesn't it?

Siryn is really a pretty average figure. She has a nice headsculpt and her wings are cool, but everything else is a bit plain. Considering she doesn't really have any accessories of her own you would hope for a second portrait with a screaming face or some more hands. Nope. She's not bad but she's just not as exciting as so many other Marvel Legends offerings available. Ultimately, I'm giving her a Good, which is a solid average rating. After getting her in hand I really did contemplate selling her, but if I hadn't found her for $10 bucks I'm not sure I would have picked her up.

This is the first figure of Siryn I've reviewed. For more Marvel Legends Series reviews check out the following:
