Action Figure Review: Gorr from Marvel Legends Series: Thor by Hasbro

   I hadn't even heard of Gorr the God Butcher prior to his appearance in the trailers for Thor: Love and Thunder as I don't keep up much with modern Marvel comics, but from all I've heard he seems like a rather unique villain. Gorr first appeared in Thor: God of Thunder #1 back in 2013 and was created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic. I liked Christian Bale's portrayal of Gorr in Thor: Love and Thunder quite a bit and I was almost tempted to pick up the movie based figure at some point to have a Gorr on my shelf but, fortunately, Hasbro put this figure up for preorder before I snagged the MCU version. Gorr the God Butcher is an Amazon exclusive and went up for preorder at the end of August. Originally his preorder arrival date was December 2023 but at some point it shifted to December 2022. That's a heck of a decrease in arrival time, right? 2022 was a big year for Gorr, so let's check him out after the break...* Gorr has the same articulation as most other Marvel Legends figures, so he's ready to pose and battle with your other figures. When he doesn't have his robe on he has a great range of motion since there's nothing to really impede his joints, but even with his robe on he's still plenty mobile. 
* He's got some creepy feet, too. The toes are very animal-like.








* Gorr comes with the symbiote weapon "All-Black the Necrosword." It's actually permanently attached to a right hand that you can swap out onto Gorr's right arm. It's a unique looking blade and I'm presuming that it must change itself depending on it's host. Knull comes with the blade too, but it's a different design with more red tendrils. 



  Gorr turned out quite well and I'm quite glad that Hasbro released a comic version of a major MCU villain so close to his appearance in the film. For years that wasn't their MO; heck, often they didn't even release the film villains. The character selection in the Marvel Legend Series continues to be very respectable and Gorr was a good choice. Now, why he's a pricier figure than most, I don't know. He's a $30 dollar figure and he's a bit light on extras. I'm giving him a Good and a 1/2 There's a lot to like about him but it would have been nice to have gotten a few more extras packed in.
